Grain is a living good. The two parameters temperature and moisture are essential in order to achieve the longest possible storage life.

Combined with the respiration of grain during storage moisture and temperature increase in the good. Accompanied by that a multiplication of microorganisms in the corn occurs. To avoid a growth of these microorganisms it is intended to hold down the two parameters as low as possible. The stock watch gives an indication how long the grain is storable.

For example, grain with a moisture of 14% and a temperature of 10°C can be stored longer than 256 days. The air volume which should be inserted in the storage place depends on what should be achieved with the inserted air. For use in practice the following values have proved their worth: The temperatures of the suctioned air should be approx. 5 degrees colder than the grain temperature. The suctioned air moisture isn´t allowed to exceed 65%.

Principles of grain aeration and aeration types

During harvest season, grain will be stored too warm when the sun is shining, or too wet when it rains. Temperature and moisture are the two key factors affecting the shelf life of grain.


Cereals should not be aerated with humid air

  • Grain must always be ventilated with colder air, never with warmer air which is higher than the grain temperature
  • Temperatures and moisture content of the grain in the grain store require constant monitoring
  • When the grain has the correct storage temperature and storage humidity, the ventilation system (fan or refrigerator) can be switched off.

The different types of ventilation are:

  1. Ventilation pipes (telescopic ventilation pipes TBR and TAS)
  2. Ventilation pillars (Air-Pillar)
  3. Ventilation spears (Air-Whisper, Air-Whisper MAX, Air-Lance Economic and Air-Lance)
  4. Semi-circular channels (Panzer-Top-Channels or Air-Giant)
  5. Underfloor ventilation (round hole and slot hole covers)
  6. Round silo ventilation (air-floor)
  7. Fans (type ASAjG and LC)

Our patented ventilation calculator allows you to calculate the necessary elements of the individual ventilation of your storage. This makes grain aeration calculable in terms of the design and the amount of air required for it and also with a vision of the costs.

TBR and TAS type of the telescopic ventilation pipes will be set in the grain. They combine the advantages of semi-circular ducts with those of underfloor ventilation. The ventilation pipe systems are subsequently installed in a hall with a concrete floor. Both variants can be completely or only partially removed from storage due to the telescopic structure, in order not to be damaged by the wheel loader.

The flexibility of the both types of ventilation pipes almost has no limits. Both types combine the advantages of semi-circular ducts (high air flow and easy cleaning) with the advantages of underfloor ventilation (easy emptying of the storage cells, no destruction of the ventilation systems during discharge, same free cross-section over the entire length.

A quick use of the both different types is ensured by the simple telescopic pull-out, as well as for the retraction the built-in pull-out rope. This is done by simply laying out the telescopic tubes on the hall floor through the rear rope eyelet.

The pipes are designed for a bulk height of 5.0 m and can also be retracted up to this storage height for emptying your flat storage.

For the first time, the TAS makes it possible to retract the telescopic ventilation tube in an already filled grain warehouse. Due to the reinforced ring system and the attached active tip with attached drag rope, a simple, manual laying out of the TAS is possible. As with the TBR, the retraction is carried out via the built-in pull-out rope.

The maximum storage height of the telescopic ventilation pipes for grain is 5.0 m.

The TBR is available up to a length of 30 m and also optionally for rapeseed.

We also offer the potato telescopic aeration tube. However, this is available in this version up to a length of 17 m. The storage height here is max. 2.0 m for the versions with a diameter of 300 mm and a length of 3.9 to 7.8 m and max. 3.0 m for the versions with a diameter of 500 mm and a length of 10 .0 to 17.0 m.

The TAS (TWIN-AERATION-SCOPE) can also be used for grain up to a maximum storage height of 5.0 m. The maximum extension length for this type of ventilation pipe is 20 m. This is also optionally available for rapeseed

Aeration pillars are installed directly in the bulk material. They flow through the grain. A perforated tube is required for this, which is mounted at the lower end of the aeration pillar. The ventilation pillar sucks warm air from the grain into the free space via a fan and then blows it into the free space of the grain store above. The pillars are easy to position with their wide base. The height can be adjusted as desired with a telescopic tube and possible extensions. A very effective ventilation option that saves you money.

Aeration pillars can be used in different ways.

They ventilate effectively and at the same time cost-effectively. You may only need a single fan to serve multiple ventilation pillars by moving the fan.

Suction operation prevents the formation of condensation.

Aeration pillars have the additional advantage that they can be flexibly moved and positioned in an existing, emptied storage. In this way, you can react immediately to changes in the storage situation or newly stored bulk material, even when the grain is ventilated before the hall is filled. The maximum storage height for aeration pillars for grain is 5 m. For potatoes, the aeration pillar can be used up to a storage height of 4 m. These storage heights cover the needs of most storage options.





Aeration pillars are generally suitable for professional grain aeration.

Our Air Pillar Potato, on the other hand, is designed for the special aeration requirements of potatoes. In the flat storage, the aeration pillars proves its high flexibility and mobility. Here it is always possible to react to changing bulk material situations. Due to the adaptability of the aeration pillars, this aeration technology can also be used where there are frequent changes in the bulk material height and bulk material situation. Also, the ventilation pillar is appealing in the cost point of view. It can also be used, for example, where existing buildings are being converted into a flat storage facility. Underfloor ventilation ducts are often not provided for conversions. Here the ventilation pillar creates an attractive alternative. The possible uses for aeration pillars are particularly diverse.
